When the word 'trust' is associated with a relationship between a couple, it usually revolves around trust on the partner that he/she doesn't cheat or whatever.
But isn't there so much more to it?
Trust shouldn't be based on just infidelity in relationships. What about
trust, as in having faith? How well do you
trust that you partner can achieve his/her dreams and goals? Does your partner have that same
trust in you?
What about when it comes to trying to kick bad habits, say, smoking, or maybe just by trying to kick some other personality habits, to be a better person. Do you
trust that they can do it? Would you believe that they can actually change?
I think that's more important than just fretting over how faithful he/she is. If you don't ever
trust that your partner can change for the better, than it will never happen. Cos even if they do change, you'll never be able to see and acknowledge those changes cos you're deluded by the mindset that he/she will always be that way.
Change is constant. Some changes are quick. Some last forever. Some are subtle, some are drastic. We have control over some changes, though definitely not all. Not all changes are for the better, but we gotta work our way around it.
Likewise for feelings. We can't run away from them either, although they change constantly.
"It's like handling the steering wheel. You can't grip too hard on it, but you can't just let go either" (I cannot believe I told Firah that.)
CDC has obviously gotten to me. Tsktsk.
